Pembroke College Oxford: The First 400 Years

Profile Editions commissioned Grade to create this rich portrait of Oxford’s Pembroke College to mark its 400-year anniversary. The book is structured in two parts: the first gives a historical overview of the college; and the second is divided into thematic chapters focusing on the social history of Pembroke, whilst also tracing its evolution as an institution. Our design married the classicism of the college’s past with a contemporary layout and typographic treatment, reflecting the fact that it is also a modern institution with an eye to the future.
