How do I love thee?
Elizabeth Barrett Browning 1806–61
To commemorate the bicentenary of the birth of Victorian writer and poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning, the British Library appointed Grade to design an exhibition that opened on Valentine's Day. The exhibition revolves around a 21-metre long display wall that charts her life from her childhood years in the country, her long depression in London to her falling in love and moving to Italy with fellow poet Robert Browning. To support the many items on display from the British Library's collection, the design uses vivid graduated colours and bold illustrative silhouettes to communicate the many aspects and changes in her life.
